Sports Broadcaster, Writer, Talk Show Host, and Reporter

ABOUT ME

My name is Andrew Fiore and I am a Graduate student at the University of Rhode Island. I have been passionate about working in sports media for as long as I can remember. This passion has allowed me to pursue a variety of great work experiences.

I honed my play-by-play and color commentary skills primarily through my two summers with the Mystic Schooners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. I have also had the privilege of broadcasting Rhode Island Rams basketball, baseball, and football on WRIU 90.3FM as well as on ESPN+. Recently, I have been calling club and prep league hockey games across Rhode Island and Connecticut on the Fans Only Sportz Network. I also began working with 321 Media where I host my first visual podcast Fiore Calls Game, which has already featured a slew of notable guests.

My experience on radio is not limited to play by play. Since 2018, I have been a cohost on 103.1FM WBLQ's Saturday Morning Sports report, covering national and local sports relevant to Westerly, RI. To further my talk radio skills in college also formed my own podcast Overtime on the Ocean State featuring pro sports debate and University of Rhode Island athlete interviews.

In high school I had written articles for the student newspaper covering the school teams, but I had not had published work through much of undergraduate school. To get back to writing, I recently joined Chowder and Champions, a FanSided website covering Boston sports.

This is not my first time covering the New England teams. Last spring, I was granted an internship with WPRI 12 News with their sports department. I got to attend media events and games for the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, Providence Friars, Bryant Bulldogs, and Rhode Island Rams, as well as local high schools. Having the chance to be at the Celtics and Bruins playoff games as well as Patriots press conferences was the opportunity of a lifetime. I was able to ask question to star athletes such as Jayson Tatum, Brad Marchand, and Drake Maye, as well as coaches such as Joe Mazzulla and Jim Montgomery. My five months at Channel 12 were some of the best of my life because it gave me the opportunity to cover the teams I had watched for years and be in the building when covering the biggest games.

You can find samples from my work from these jobs in the above tabs or feel free to reach out from the information below. All of these different jobs played a role in shaping who I am today and the type of work and passion I will provide in my next chapter.
